What is trigonometry
Trigonometry is a branch of mathematics that studies relationships between side lengths and angles of triangles.
-
This is done by using the trigonometric functions:
- sin(α) = opposite / hypotenuse
- cos(α) = adjacent / hypotenuse
- tan(α) = opposite / adjacent
-
As well as the inverse trigonometric functions:
- asin(opposite / hypotenuse) = α
- acos(adjacent / hypotenuse) = α
- atan(opposite / adjacent) = α
To calculate all the sides or angles depending on which you already have you just remodel one of the terms a bit or let this calculator handle it for you.
